Amateur Radio Webinar Series - Tomorrow! (10/29)

The response to last week’s webinars was fantastic. Hundreds of Amateur Radio Operators attended and learned how Depiction mapping software filled their disaster response and planning needs. One person, who attended both webinars, wrote during the webinar “Thank you for making the webinar interesting enough for me to participate both days, and expect to review them from your archive again. Each time I take away more valuable information.”

The response has been so impressive, that Kim Buike and I will be presenting the webinar again, live, TOMORROW, Thursday, October 29 at 2 PM EDT/11 AM PDT. In fact, we’re turning this into an entire webinar series that we will be presenting weekly. You can read the news release (pdf) for more information.

We hope that you and the members of your club will find this information valuable. Additionally, if your club would be interested in a custom regional webinar to see how you could make use of Depiction, please contact me.

Thanks for your time,

Aero Field Day 2009

The Aero Amateur Radio Club and BRATS will be joining forces for the 2009 ARRL Field Day operation. The location is the same as in previous years, Camp Genyara near the Pennsylvania state line (see map). Field Day operation will start at 2pm, Saturday June 27th and end at 2pm, Sunday June 28th. We will be starting setup on Friday afternoon, the 26th, at approximately 2-3pm. Our objective is to have at least one station on the air Friday for casual QSOs and then complete setup on Saturday. The final station configuration has not yet been determined but there will be at least one hf voice transmitter, one hf cw transmitter, and one vhf/uhf multimode transmitter. We may also setup PSK31, satellite, and solar power stations.

The location is rustic. We have 2 large pavilions with picnic tables. One is used for the operating positions and the kitchen and the other is used for sleeping. There is a large field available for pitching tents, etc. You will need to supply your own food and drink. Electricity is supplied by generator.

For additional information, contact Bob Landis, WA3SWA. Email address is wa3swa (at) cavtel (dot) net.

Get Ready For Field Day 2008 [AERO]

Courtesy The Aero Aerial Newsletter June 2008

It’s June. The sun is high in the sky. The trees and plants are in full bloom.
At a sleepy camp in Northern Baltimore County the antennas will soon be reaching the sky.
Field Day 2008 will again be held by Aero at Camp Genyara from Friday June 27th through Sunday June 29th.

Everyone is invited to come join the fun. The setup crew usually shows up after 3 p.m. Friday afternoon to get the buildings ready. A couple of antennas are put up for some overnight ragchew fun. Last year there were even movies and telescopes for stargazing! Serious setup begins on Saturday morning and it’s off to the races at 2 p.m. local time for the start of Field Day. Operations continue for 24 hours, making as many QSOs as we can until the final whistle blows at 2 p.m. on Sunday. This year Aero will again be joined by The Baltimore Radio Amateur Television Society. We will operate W3PGA as 3A and also have a GOTA station AE3RO. There will be opportunities for everyone to get on the air on most of the HF bands as well as 6 and 2 meters. We will operate various modes including CW, Voice and Digital. Best of all there will be food. So come up to Camp Genyara and join the fun.
