In a case that goes back more than 10 years, the FCC has told a Pennsylvania utility that the utility is responsible for paying for “efforts to locate and correct instances of [power line] noise.” At least one amateur has been complaining to the FCC since 2000 regarding harmful radio interference possibly caused by power line equipment that is maintained by Pittsburgh’s Duquesne Light Company (DLC).

[CARA] Call for Volunteers 9/5

From Dave Prestel:

We are looking for volunteers to support the Knights of Columbus Fun Run public service event, Saturday, September 5th, 2009. The event is held at the Franciscan Friars Shrine of Saint Anthony in Ellicott City, starting at 7:30AM and ending around 11AM. It is a short (10 km) relatively low-key running event conducted in the area around the Shrine grounds. It’s a great opportunity to get started supporting public service events if you are new to them. All that is required is a 2 meter FM HT or mobile radio, and even if you don’t have one, we can pair you up with someone who does.

To volunteer, please contact Dan Wilt, N3YQ directly at N3YQ@arrl.net

A complete operations plan with directions and assignments will be sent out the week before the event.

73, Dan N3YQ
