The Under Armour 8th Annual Baltimore Marathon Running Festival will take place on Saturday, October 11. The Marathon (26.2 miles), Half-Marathon, Team Relay, and 5K courses start and finish at the M&T Bank Stadium (home of the Baltimore Ravens). For more info on the races and maps of the courses go to http://www.TheBaltimoreMarathon.com and click on Race Info in the left column menu.

Amateur Radio Operators will provide radio communications to ensure the safety of runners and spectators in the event. Operators will staff water and medical stations throughout the day. We need you to commit a few hours or the entire day (between 7:00 a. m. and 3:00 p. m.). The early water stops will close early so volunteer soon for an early-closing stop. We will try to put you at a station close to your side of town. With enough volunteers we can provide shifts for the stops that remain open for most of the day.

Hams will shadow the Event Organizer and the Race Director at the stadium, ride in a vehicle ahead of the lead runner, and establish a communications net between critical points along the course, medical and water support stations, and the start/ finish. Johns Hopkins Medicine will staff First Aid stations along the course. Water and replacement drink stations will be located about every mile.

Please pass this along to your ham friends and also mention this request in your QSO’s.

Thanks for your time and help.
