Bob, KF4KSS, AMSAT Lab Manager provided an update on the work to bring the new Pocomoke City, MD facility shared with the Hawk Institute of Space Sciences on-line.

• January will close the cleanroom construction activities.
• February will begin the tower and all the RF for the satellite control station including U, V, L, S and HF bands. Details will be published as they are completed.
• After the tower installation, we will begin work on the engineering unit of the structure for the AMSAT Eagle amateur radio satellite. We plan on having parts of it complete in time for the Dayton Hamvention in May.

Entrepreneur Richard Branson Wednesday unveiled a model of the spaceship he hopes will be the first to take paying passengers into space on a regular basis next year.

Branson, whose Virgin Galactic is one of several commercial enterprises vying to offer the ultimate in sightseeing, said his SpaceShipTwo will start test flights later this year.

The GB2RS news service is now available as a podcast. To access our podcast, you will need the latest iTunes software from Apple. This software can be downloaded for free from the Apple website ( www.apple.com/uk/ ) and works with both PC and Macintosh computers. Once you have downloaded and installed iTunes, you will need to set up the software to download the latest GB2RS news in MP3 format. You can do this by clicking on the “Advanced” menu option and then selecting “Subscribe to Podcast”. You will then have to enter a special web address into the box that pops up. The address is: [www.rsgb.org.uk/rss/gb2rs_rss.xml]. The latest issue of GB2RS should now automatically download when it is available. The GB2RS MP3 file will also be copied to your iPod or other MP3 player when you connect it to your computer. Jeremy Boot, G4NJH, kindly provides the GB2RS mp3 files.
